HootSuite and Ping.fm Make Social Networking More Meaningful

by Kim Harrison on November 6, 2009

I could not enjoy Twitter until, I discovered Hootsuite – a free tool that allows you to manage your twitter account and decipher meaningful messages. You can also integrate hootsuite with Ping.fm to add other social media as well.

This way you can go to hootsuite to update all of your social media profiles. Here are the steps:

Note: You may already have your tweets being sent to facebook or vice versa – so you need to me mindful of this before you set this up as it will result in double messages…

1. Set up an account at Hootsuite.com and select the twitter profiles you want to connect to – you can add as many as you want. Confirm your account
2. Then to got Ping.fm and set up your account there
3. Go back to hootsuite and under settings select Integrate Ping Profile, add you application key (click the hyperlink to view it) copy it in then save.
4. You are good to go!

Hey Kim, I've been using Hootsuite and Ping.fm for awhile now. It's supposed to automatically add my tweets to Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, but it doesn't work consistently. How is it for you?

Peggy - so far so good with Hootsuite but it has not been very long since I linked the feature. Thanks for the heads up - I'll keep a look out for it...
